Second Saturday Serve: Why serve?

SecondSaturdayServeAs some of our Abide team was out cleaning up around the campus this past fall, we started to meet some of our neighbors. A young man who has lived near our campus for over 20 years, his entire life, said he never knew what happened inside of the fence.

While the campus has been here a while and has a great history of serving the community in various ways, we are beginning to use it to bring new life, and new purpose to the people around us. Instead of being a place that people don’t know, we have started to get to know our community and build relationships with the people around us.

We love our city! North Omaha is our home, and we want to invest in our community and take care of our friends and family, the people we live among. This upcoming Saturday we have what we call Second Saturday Serve, an opportunity for all of us to get out of our seats and into the streets, with the focus this month being our campus!

We are so excited for all that the Better Together Campus has become for us, as a landing place for community events, church events, the Abide offices, and other nonprofits. However, we know that this campus can be so much more for not just us but our entire community and the city of Omaha!

This is a way for us to be Better Together for our city, to work alongside each other and invest in the great potential that we are continually seeing more of each day, in the midst of our neighborhoods.
