SAFER NEIGHBORHOODS

THE POWER OF PRESENCE
We are creating safer neighborhoods by establishing lighthouses, which are homes, where trusted leaders live, serve, and build lasting relationships. Through local events cleanups and consistent presence we invest in transforming communities from within.
Lighthouse Program
The Lighthouse Program was created to help individuals make a meaningful impact through their presence.

Beautification & cleanup
We know a cleaner neighborhood is a safer neighborhood. Our strategy to love our neighbors through beautification & clean up helps our community come together.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Community events are a great opportunity to engage with our neighbors through fun activities. Which allow us to connect through prayer and meaningful conversations.

more likely to succeed in building peer relationships
more crime within 250 feet of a foreclosed home
less likely to experience mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety
more likely to achieve higher grades and exhibit positive attitudes toward learning
Our neighborhood impact
We know there is power in our presence, which leads to transformation in our communities. Purposeful presence brings hope, builds trust, and creates safer neighborhoods.

NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION AND CLEAN UP
We know a cleaner neighborhood is a safer neighborhood. Our strategy to love our neighbors through beautification & clean up helps our community come together. We have committed to weekly, monthly, and yearly opportunities through beautification and clean up.
upcoming events
Community Events create a fun and joyful experience at a large scale providing resources. These events include Back to School Block Party and the Christmas store which on average engage over 2,000 community members.
hear from others living on purpose
My favorite part of the Block Party is just the togetherness, the kindness in everybodies heart! All the people who work here, Abide, are awesome people.
One of the most encouraging comments was from my neighbors across the street. The wife asked how she could help, even though she had really bad eyesight and it's hard for her to get around. They graciously allowed us to set up tables in their yard and visited with a lot of the volunteers throughout the party. She told me after the party that in her 45 years of living on Larimore Ave, that is the most fun she has ever had on our street. She also said that the volunteers were so nice, that now she is thinking about coming to church, and hopes to see them again.”
"Lots of volunteer staff that made the event awesome, from showing up in the parking lot and having people guide me to my parking to make it smooth, to having any questions once I was on campus. Plenty of people there to answer questions. This was my first year running after an invite from a friend and will be bringing back family and friends next year for the event. Food and drinks afterwards were awesome too, delicious burritos and juice drinks. Huge thanks to the abide team and volunteers"
